My First Etsy Sales!

Saturday, April 18th 2009. I woke up to my first 2 Etsy sales. At that time I was just checking out craftcult.com -a website I came across by accident where you can see who loves your shop and your items.

Anyways, as I was checking it out I noticed that the number of items listed for sale at Craft cult did not match what I had originally posted at my Etsy shop.

Although it did say 2 items sold, it still didn't make much sense to me because I hadn't sold an item from the last time that I had checked my shop the other day.

Silly me, still in denial, trying to figure this out- I decided to check my Etsy shop. You should have seen the surprise on my face when I realized that the sales were REAL. Hahaha.

It was a wonderful feeling for a Saturday morning! I can't describe it any better. I have since received my first positive feedback. :)

How To Choose Jewelry That Enhances Your Appearance!

I spent a couple of days trying to figure out what to write on my blog, so today I thought it would be nice to add a "How to" article for a change. I stumbled upon this article and found it very interesting and useful.

Jewelry has been worn for centuries as a means to enhance appearance as well as show ones status. From crude jewelry made from natural elements like wood and grass to quality made pieces using precious metals and gemstones to suit royalty, jewelry has been a good way to add to your looks for thousands of years.
Luckily today, we have a wide range of styles to choose from. From cheap costume jewelry to expensive diamonds and gold, necklaces, bracelets and earrings made in every conceivable shape size and form.

Everyone loves to wear jewelry, but did you know that the shape and style of jewelry you choose can actually work towards enhancing your appearance?

Here's some tips on selecting jewelry that will complement your particular features and shape:
Necklaces

Much like clothing, necklace styles can work towards changing the viewers perception of your height. If you are very short and want to give the perception that you are taller, then you want to choose necklaces that are longer.

Necklaces that are V-shaped or Y-shaped lariat's can elongate your appearance. You want to pick necklaces that go below your bust but not past your waist. These shapes and lengths will want your torso and make you appear taller.
But what about those of you who are tall and wanted our attention away from your height? If this is you, then you want to choose necklaces that are short either 16 or 18 inches that rest on her collarbone. Choker necklaces can also work to make you look shorter.

When choosing necklaces you also want to think about the volume or chunkiness of the necklace. A large boned or full figured gal will want a necklace that has a little bit of volume - perhaps large chunky stones or a thick link. If you are petite, however larger jewelry may not look right on you and you may want to choose something more delicate. Also, take the volume of the piece into consideration. If you are big boned or larger then chunkier necklaces might be more in proportion. However, a petite person may not look so good in large size jewelry.

Earrings

Earrings can work towards or against the shape of your face. Depending on the shape of your face, you can use particular earring styles to emphasize or deemphasize flaws in the shape. When we talk about face shapes we are referring to the basic shapes of round, rectangle or, heart-shaped, oval, or square.

Those with an oval shaped face are the luckiest because they can wear pretty much any style and look good. If your face is round, however, you don't want to emphasize the fullness so you want to stay away from big button style earrings or hoops. Long earrings or square or rectangular shaped will help to elongate your face.

Heart-shaped faces are thinner by the chin and so you want to wear earrings that can widen out your chin such as triangular shapes or chandeliers that are wider at the bottom. If your face is long or rectangular shaped you don't want to wear longer dangling earrings as this will tend to elongate your face. Stick with smaller stubs to match your face shape.

Bracelets and Rings

A lot of times when you talk or when you're just sitting around your hands are up near your face so you want to choose your bracelets and rings so that they compliment your face as well as your hands.

Also, you want to consider your signs and whether you are large boned or small boned when choosing bracelets. If you are petite then large chunky bracelets might look awkward on you, so delicate thin bracelets might be the way to go. On the other hand if you're large boned or even medium-sized you might look best with a wide bracelet or a stack of bracelets.

When choosing rings, you want to think about the shape of your finger's. Are they long and elegant or short and stubby? Either way you want to make sure your ring does not go over the knuckle as this is not only uncomfortable but rarely looks good on any hand.

If your fingers are short then you want to choose smaller delicate rings as you do not want to emphasize the shortness of your fingers. Rings with an oval setting tend to look best. If you have long fingers then round settings and wide band's will probably look best on you.

Always remember when choosing jewelry, to choose what you love! Finding jewelry that flatters you and that you feel good wearing is the perfect complement to any outfit.
